In this he has outdone several other famous cricketing names from Pakistan. And you know he is a good guy when he specifically mentions the names of his cook and driver in his book and thanks them for their support. All said and done, you have to commend the man for a job well done. Shoaib rising up the cricket ladder from an underprivileged background has been poignantly captured in the first few chapters. The book must be given a fiction genre rather than an autubiography genre.

Akhtar, who retired during the last World Cup, reveals in the book how he worked on the ball during the three-nation tournament in Sri Lanka after the World Cup. Shoaib needs to realise that maybe when he complains over and over again how no one listens to him in Pakistan he actually means that he doesn't listen to everyone around him?
A cricketer with a most interesting character in a Pakistani Cricket for many years and the book presents the first hand account of his career. Conhroversially, the insights were missing here.

Thank you for the entertainment. His passion, enthusiasm and might I add the typical Vy personality When I picked this book up I had expected to read it like a tabloid.
The scourge of match-fixing—in which he incidentally remains one of the few players untainted—is largely glossed over. Book revealing that how the top most leaders have the direct say in the cricket affairs. But his statistics don't tell the whole story.
Shoaib sells the drama
This book is not going to change your opinion of him. He complains about never having had a proper mentor, but more likely it would not have been possible for even the most well-meaning mentor to get through to him.
I guess, i can't decide that but i now i know what provoked such controversies in his life. The Pakistan speedster has confessed to having tampered with the ball and also questioned the class and temperament of India's batting icons, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. Lets say that Shoaib was right in each of those fights.
I would have loved to know more about his one-on-one contests or the chat he had with his teammates or his captain during tough on-pitch fights and situations. I find myself clueless to decide how to start this. The very appearance of his book is a feat in itself: The akhyar tone is sometimes conversational, sometimes argumentative, with seamless transitions into languid storytelling one minute, breathless rhetoric the next.

This book is politically incorrect and candid view of life as viewed by Shoaib who seems does seem to love controversy. Shoaib was all about passion, that's what kept him going. Once he discovered cricket, he was drawn to role models, finding instant inspiration in Imran Khan's dynamic and towering figure.

Sep 13, Santhosh rated it it was ok. Shoaib tells us about the anxiety of appearing for domestic cricket trials in Lahore, and the joy of catching the eye of Zaheer Abbas.
And that is something worth all the masala around his career. Akhtar at his best in the book As a child our only dream was to get I find myself clueless to decide how to start this.
And controverslally if my opinion doesn't count, I forgive him for what comes off as slight arrogance in the book because when you're the fastest and scariest bowler in cricket history, you sort of deserve to be a little proud of yourself. This is why whenever he abused and scolded him due to his sick habits, Mrs. The Dressing Room, was the hilarious reading however!
